KHC hockey leaders course notes
This is the Scottish Hockey tutor notes, with some changes and adaptations specific to Kinross HC.
SHU hockey leaders student notes
The course notes from the old SHU hockey leaders course. It is somewhat limited in scope, but worth a look.
FIH coaching manual
This used to be provided by FIH on their website. It is a rather poor quality translation of a German text, originally for football coaches - the author, Horst Wein worked with clubs like Barcelona and Arsenal. Although it can occasionally be hard to follow (and in places still talks about offside and free kicks!), the book includes a wealth of useful games for hockey coaches to use, taking you from exercises for small children, up to teenagers making the transition to 11 aside.
Iain Henry’s coaching manual for small people
Games and activities for the smallest kids - a work in progess, but there are plenty of ideas there.
Videos
Hockey Hub
It’s a good idea to sign up for Hockey Hub, the SHU site for coaches and umpires. It has good videos on everything from coaching goalshooting, to how to deal with teenagers. The sessional videos are all game-based, which is how we should be trying to focus our coaching now.
Hockey Heroes
Hockey Heroes is the Youtube channel of a group of players with top Dutch clubs (all delivered in impeccable English). It’s light-hearted, but very good.
Hockey Australia coaching videos
Videos for all the basic techniques and some more advanced ones too.
Coaching director
This is the Youtube Channel of Ryde Hockey Club in Sydney. The lessons vary between basic and "I'll never be able to do that". There are two sets, both well worth a look:
-Skills and drills
-Coaching videos
