Appointments for next season

As you know, the AGM took place last night. The turnout was somewhat limited (guys, where were you?) so for those who were not there, here are the appointments for next season

President: Gurdi Duhre
VP: Gail Nelson
Club Secy: Claire Brownbridge
Treasurer: Andrew Montford
Mens Club Captain: Chris Robson
Ladies CC: Lindsey Broderick-Knight
Social: Kirsty Dunn
Mens Secretary: Ralph Hepburn
Ladies Secretary: Susie McIntyre
CPO: Michelle Best
Junior Convenor: Andrew McIntyre

M1s captains - tbc
M2s captains - Simon Williams, (Ralph Hepburn vice)
L1s captains - Amy Weatherup,  (Lynn Jack vice)
L2s captains - Wendy Marshall, (Catherine Wray vice)

The two issues arising are the captaincy of the M1s. Alex Ingram has offered to do on an interim basis, but he doesn't know if he will be playing in Kinross next season, so the men's section will need to be thinking about alternative arrangements.

In addition, the possibility of having two social convenors - one from the men's section and one from the ladies - has been raised. We really need someone from the men's section to step forwards here.

You wait ages for an umpire

...and then six come along at once. Congratulations to Kirsty Dunn, Claire Brownbridge, Andrew Montford, Ralph Hepburn, and Andy and David McIntyre, who all passed their umpire assessments last night.

Backing the Blue Sticks

The club has pledged £50 to the Scottish Hockey men's team fundraising drive. The Bluesticks have qualified for the World League semi-finals in London in June, where they will get to play big hockey nations like the Netherlands and India.

If the fundraising drive is successful then a lucky KHC member can be a mascot at an international game in Glasgow in August.

If anyone else wants to bung a few quid in the Bluesticks pot, the donations page is here.

Grand opening

Last night saw the official opening of the new pitch. This was a chance to thank everyone who had helped bring the project to fruition, and in particular our donors and sponsors.

The honours were done by Gail and current Scotland international Gavin Byers. Thanks to all the KHC members who came down to show their appreciation.

A trim round the sides

We have a tree surgeon in at KAS today, dealing with the overhanging trees around the perimeter of the pitch. The birch is being taken out completely, along with one of the small trees, which is rotten and in danger of falling over. The two big trees are going to be pollarded to reduce their size.

Ben's debut

With a mild winter meaning meaning few postponements and an early finish to the season, we have been trying to put together a few friendlies. This morning's game against Dunfermline City HC was the result, and a glorious morning for a game of hockey it was too.

It also meant that we had a chance to give a debut to Ben Volland, who is going to be stepping up from the Kobras next season. And a very mature performance it was too, with some neat play, nice skills and not too much of the fancy-dan stuff. Oh, yes, and a goal too.

Simon and Ralph were seen to be nodding approvingly.
